A new house in Wash Green, Wirksworth on a difficult site. The house is built to the pavement edge as are most of the houses in Wash Green, and uses natural cedar cladding to create a 'bookend' to the street.

Render is used as a traditional material, with a splash of colour to brighten up what was once an oppressive dark corner.

The house has been sold and the new owners have changed the colour scheme and stained the cedar cladding, unfortunately. It was our intention that the cladding would weather to a silvery-grey colour which would compliment the predominance of limestone as a walling material in this area of Derbyshire.
