This is a new private dwelling on the
hillside of Oaker. The site, whilst being
restricted in terms of access and size,
offers wonderful south facing views
across the valley and to the hillside
beyond. The village of Oaker itself has
an eclectic mix of building styles.

We have adopted a mixed palette of materials which will allow the form of the building to sit comfortably within this setting. We have taken the opportunity to introduce a relatively large element of timber and glass to the South facing façade. This takes advantage of the excellent views, as well as creating a house which is passively energy efficient. This is achieved through the introduction of south facing glazing, along with high levels of insulation. In addition, the use of timber creates a sustainable backdrop to the woodlands against which the house is set.
