At present, just a vast expanse of tarmac, the intention is to transform the space with a limited budget. We set up our “office” in the school hall and listened to what the children would like. The most common requests centred on nature, plants and somewhere to be calm.

Our design was shaped entirely around this consultation with the children and takes the form of a giant green ‘living’ tunnel.

In the giant tunnel there will be scope for many activities, such as reading, outdoor cooking, after school clubs and so on. It will also create a safe area from which staff can observe, and give children access to other areas for imaginative play.
