There has long been a wish for a Skate Park in Wirksworth and we were asked to provide support for the idea. We helped to put forward a bid for funding for a new community park which would include a number of amenities for all ages on Fanny Shaws Meadow. This field was poorly drained and in need of attention and seemed a good location for the proposal. We worked closely with community groups, local schools, the police as well as the skaters and the bid was successful.
The first phase of the development is now complete. This consists of a drainage scheme for the whole park, landscaping (Tree and Shrub planting), new accessible paths and the construction of the Skate Park itself.

Community Social Space
Work is in place to try and raise funds to complete the project. This will consist of new play areas with sculptured seating set within dry stone walls in a circular interlocking pattern. The intention is to create a safe play space using local crafts and skills in enclosures similar to the stone enclosures that used to be a common characteristic of Derbyshire's landscape.
