The garden is the centrepiece to our scheme. The nursery, crèche and baby room all face onto a safe, south facing courtyard which is reached through a double height conservatory. The garden is based upon a circular journey through a tunnel, past a climbing wall, a water rill, bird nesting boxes, a sand pit and smaller planted gardens with stepping stones into ‘secret’ places.
SureStart Garden, Derby
At the centre of the garden is a curved bench above which towers a spectacular ‘Solar Tree’. Shade is provided by stretched awnings, which are permeable to rain to allow the plants beneath to flourish.
