A grant of £260,000 has been secured form Sport England after much hard work, which was initially on a voluntary basis. The grant will provide new recreational space for a wide cross section of the community. In addition, there will be improvements to the drainage of the field and additional landscaping.
Community Social Space
The fully implemented project will include new play equipment enclosed by dry stone circular walls rather than the usual dreary fences. This will give the scheme a sculptural feel and provide opportunities to utilise local building skills pertinent to Wirksworth. A skate park designed in close association with local skaters and bandstand are included.
